Economides Family on The Mike and Juliet Show

We appeared on the 16th episode of the first season of the Mike & Juliet Show on February 13, 2007.The topic of the show was all about saving money & getting more bang for your buck as Mike and Juliet got money saving tips from their guests.

The Other Guests

They had an event planner talking about making inexpensive decorations for Valentine’s day. They also had a hairdresser talking about how you could highlight your hair at home and save money.

The Economides Family Goes Shopping

Then they had our family and we came on to share how we saved money on clothing. You have to remember that the crew and the hosts live in New York City with all of the great brand name clothing stores staffing beautiful store fronts within blocks of the studio. And while there are thrift stores in NYC (yes, we’ve been to them), the hosts and producers, for the most part, were unaware that bargains could be so easily found.

Wowing the Audience of The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet

It was a fun show to do, as Abbey wowed the audience with her personality and the great looking, yet inexpensive outfit she wore. Doing a show with a live audience is always fun.

Thrift Store Clothing Deals

The segment we did covered how frugal living can be fulfilling. The crew created a great video montage of us shopping for clothes at a local thrift store. We wore the clothes on the set and the audience loved it. Steve wore a Kenneth Cole dress shirt that he purchased for $1 — Mike thought it was a great deal. Abbey stole the show modeling a complete outfit that she bought for $9.

Because it was a live show, we weren’t able to record it.

After The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet

Two crazy things happened right after the show. A storm blew in and closed all of the New York airports. We were stuck in NYC for 2 days. It wasn’t so bad – really. The snowfall in the city was minimal and we spent the days walking around and seeing the sights. There are worse places to be snowed in.

Our book, “America’s Cheapest Family Gets You Right on the Money,” rose to the #1 best seller on Amazon! That was really cool!
